Kevin S. Tyo
Kevin Tyo is President and Owner of Event Security Consulting and
Operations, Inc. Kevin has over eighteen years of experience coordinating
the public safety component at over 200 premier sporting and entertainment
facilities. Prior to forming ESCO, Kevin held the position of Security
Director for the Athletes Village at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic
Games. After 9/11 he was asked to manage the security operations
occurring inside the Salt Lake Olympic Square, a 12 block fence
enclosed facility located in the middle of the downtown business
district. The Olympic Square was host to over 150,000 people daily
and encompassed the Delta Center (ice skating and speed skating
events), The Salt Palace (Olympic Main Press Center) and the Olympic
Medals Plaza where athletes were awarded their Official Olympic
Medals. The medals ceremonies were held during a nighttime concert
series that included the Dave Matthews Band, Creed, Barenaked Ladies,
Alanis Morissette, and NSYNC. Kevin served as Director of Public
Safety for the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games and Venue
Security Manager for Mitchell Field (Athletics and Women’s
Soccer) at the 1998 New York City Goodwill Games. Kevin also served
as Manager of Staffing Development for the Security Department at
the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. Kevin has successfully provided
a high level of security preparation for some of the most noted
events and tours occurring in the United States, Europe and the

Daniel J. Lang
Danny Lang serves ESCO in the role of Senior Operations Manager
for Special Events. Mr. Lang is retired from the Los Angeles Police
Department after an extensive career managing such specialized law
enforcement units as; Narcotics Enforcement, Gang Suppression, The
Bomb Squad and Complex Homicide Investigations. Mr. Lang has had
extensive interaction with the United States Secret Service in the
area of dignitary protection and the FBI in complex criminal investigation.

Hilton Cancel
Hilton Cancel serves ESCO as Special Consultant. Mr. Cancel is a
retired Detective Lieutenant from the Indianapolis Police Department
specializing in Field Operations, Internal Affairs, Victim Assistance,
Officer Training Programs and Investigations. Mr. Cancel was Vice
President of Operations/Security for the 1987 X Pan American Games
and the Security Commissioner for the 1999 Special Olympics World
Summer Games. He recently served as consultant to the 20th Congress
of the Universal Postal Union, which was held in Washington, D.C.
and attended by all the Post Master Generals of the world. He was
part of an executive committee that developed 100 tabletop emergency
scenarios for the conference with 75 of the occurrences actually

James Russell
James Russell is a retired Captain from the City of Raleigh, North
Carolina Fire Department. Mr. Russell has over thirty years of experience
as a Fire Fighter and Rescue Officer. He has an extensive background
in Fire Prevention specializing in the Enforcement of Life Safety
Codes, the designs of Emergency Evacuation Guidelines and Safety
Survey Techniques for the inspection of businesses, hotels, and
other structures of mass gathering. Mr. Russell has served as the
Rescue and Fire Coordinator in North Carolina for visits by former
Presidents Carter, Ford, Reagan and George Bush, Sr. Contact James
